Mrs Phillips of Poole, Dorset recently got in touch with the Wooden Gate Makers team looking to have new gates made for her garden. With a young child in tow and no suitable barrier in place, she was worried about the risk of her child wandering onto the road, and wanted a gate that was strong and tall enough to make sure this couldn't happen.

She asked us to create double gates that would make her garden safe for her child to play in, while also boosting the overall security of her property.

The Project

We began by visiting Mrs Phillips' home to assess the space for the new gates. During our site visit, we took precise measurements to determine the right gate size and gathered details about Mrs Phillips' specifications. We also agreed on a 6-week timeline to get the job done quickly and minimise the safety risk from the nearby road.

Back at our workshop, we got to work handcrafting the gates. We based the design on Mrs Philips' preferred style, "Sandbanks", which features a gracefully curved top rail secured to vertical boards. Per the agreed upon specifications, we built the gates to be 8 ft wide and 6 ft 8 tall at their peak.
