What Makes Wooden Gate Makers Different?

When you’re designing the layout of your driveway or garden, it’s easy to forget about the gate securing it. But it’s not something you want to overlook.

Your gate is the first thing people see when walking towards your property. It’s where they get their initial idea of what aesthetic you’re trying to achieve, and the image will stick with them long after they pass through it - after all, an intricate wooden gate gives off a very different vibe than a plain steel one!

With over 20 years of experience, the craftsmen at Wooden Gate Makers understand the importance of having the perfect gate like no one else. Not only are our handcrafted wooden gates extremely durable, but they’re designed to enhance the look and feel of any property, whether modern or traditional.

Below, we explore the many aspects that make us stand out from other gate makers, from the service we provide down to the very materials we use.

Traditional craftsmanship, modern equipment

As the old adage goes: why fix what’s not broken?

Unlike big name gate manufacturers, we craft each of our gates by hand. We use traditional joinery techniques that’ve been honed over generations, guaranteeing time-tested quality in all our creations.

Of course, the advancements made in modern crafting technology can’t be ignored. We use a combination of trusted vintage tools and cutting-edge machinery, utilising the best qualities of both to give our gates a truly remarkable build quality.

A passion for quality woods

Even the most skilled craftsmen will struggle if they’re stuck using low-quality materials. We only use the highest quality woods available, letting us achieve an unparalleled level of durability and strength in each of our gates.

Both our softwood and hardwood gates are made out of woods that are entirely resistant to rot, decay, and discolouration. They also come coated in a protective treatment that absorbs deeply into the wood for long-lasting protection. You only need to run a hand across them to feel the sheer quality in their finish!

Bespoke designs, tailored to your garden

Mass gate producers use a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Their gates usually can’t be customised, which can make it difficult to find one that matches the design you have in mind. If you decide to take your chances with one anyway, it could end up sticking out like a sore thumb and detracting from the overall aesthetic of your property.

We offer a wide selection of over 25 standard styles for you to choose from, so you’re sure to find a gate that suits your taste. If you have a particular style in mind that you don't see on our website, or if you have a gate that you're particularly fond of and would like us to replicate, no worries! Just send us a photo, and we'll happily provide you with a personalised quotation.

Personal, start-to-end service

Our goal is to take the hassle out of installing your new gate, which is why we offer a full measurement, delivery, and fitting service for customers within a 100-mile radius of our workshop.

Our expert team will install your new gate quickly and safely, taking care to avoid damaging the gate or surrounding fence. They’ll check it thoroughly to make sure there are no gaps or overlapping materials, the ironwork is well-oiled, and the gate moves smoothly when opened.

We can also supply our softwood gates to the rest of the UK, though you’ll need to find an installer or install yourself.
